National Motoring Heritage Day, Picnic in the Park – Sunday 21st May 2017 – CANCELLED

CANCELLED – DUE TO QUEENS PARK BEING TOO WET FOR THE MOTOR VEHICLES

We walked around Queens Park. The grounds are too wet under foot and, out of respect to the grounds and the relationship have with Ipswich City Council, we have made the decision to cancel the event.

We cannot have 250+ motor vehicles driving onto these lawns. The attached photograph explains the condition of the Park.
The event is cancelled for this year, not postponed.
Please pass this message on to anybody you know who was planning on attending.
PS Queens Park is currently perfect for growing mushrooms. This photo was taken in Queens Park  Saturday.

Karen Dawes (President or Roma Historical Motor Club Inc.) has set up the QHMC Facebook page. Below is the link to the Facebook Page for QHMC.

Please “Like” the page, if you are on Facebook.

If you would like us to post any particular piece of information, please email secretary@qhmc.org.au

The page is gaining interest.  Karen has emailed the link to the clubs on the QHMC club list and asked them to share with their members. Karen has also subscribed to the news feed of the clubs that have a Facebook page which means she can immediately share their events to the page.
Our main aim is, not only to strengthen the connection for the clubs to QHMC, but with each other.

The information flow out to individual members of clubs can be blocked at times. Hopefully this will improve that.

What is National Motoring Heritage Day?

National Motoring Heritage Day is an initiative of Australian Historic Motoring Federation, with the aim being to promote and display Australia’s strong motoring heritage and also to show the community, businesses and government the strength of the Australian historic motoring movement.

All QHMC clubs are encouraged to participate in an event on the day as, without promotion of our hobby, the government and community support may gradually fade and concessional registration schemes may be lost.

Our vehicles are a “mobile museum”, of which we are the custodians; they need to be viewed and enjoyed by the public.

Make this your monthly club run.

This event is at NO COST to you or your club.

Display your historic vehicle, have a fun day and “share the passion” with the public.

PLEASE NOTE If your club is erecting a marquee, there are to be NO PEGS OR STAKES INTO THE GROUND. Marquee’s must be weighted down, not pegged down.

Stolen vehicle – 1910 Delage Model F Roadster

Update (14 April) – it’s been recovered !

Daryl Meek and Fiona had their 1910 Delage and Tilta-trailer stolen from Tullamarine on Saturday night / Sunday morning. Please widely distribute this information and photos so, hopefully, the vehicle and trailer are returned to Daryl and Fiona as soon as possible.

The trailer is quite distinct in that it does not have ramps. It has an airbag system for loading and unloading the trailer.
